Feeling Moody? 20 Minute Practice to Get Unstuck
/Do you ever feel angry or frustrated and you aren’t even sure why?
Do you ever take that a out on your colleagues, your partner or yourself?
Spring is on it’s way out.
Summer, once again, claims the throne.
Yet I’m called to give one last shout out to internal spring cleaning.
In Chinese Medicine spring is related to the liver channel. Stagnation of the liver channel can translate as irritability, moodiness, frustration or anger.
It’s well known that Westerners tend towards liver qi stagnation. My Acupuncturist, raised in China, jokes they could walk into their office waiting room and point a finger at most patients, “liver stagnation, liver stagnation…” down through the line.
The powerful gift of these challenging emotions is that they can be channeled into productive action- we can make healthy changes that more clearly reflect our values of peace, justice and health in our lives and families, our daily routine, our schools and governments.
While there are many extremely valid reasons to feel angry and frustrated in our contemporary paradigm, if these emotions sit inside of us without an outlet we can become unpleasant to be around- most notably in our own internal experience of ourselves. This imbalance can also manifest as physical symptoms like PMS, constipation, depression, migraines or insomnia.
When I feel hot emotions building, I turn to this 20 minute practice to create more space for love and healthy boundaries so I can realign to my values and be an effective agent for productive personal and social change.
May this be of service to you and your family as we continue to create a new world form the inside out… one breath at a time.
